M31- The Andromeda Galaxy
Distance From Earth - 2.5 Million Light Years
Diameter - 260,000 Light Years
This was the largest project I’ve done at this point, by a long shot. Over the last 3 months, I took 75 hours worth on photos in order to bring out all of the incredible detail in this galaxy. I’m incredibly proud of this image and looking forward to adding more data to it at some point in the future!
Andromeda, a spiral galaxy containing an estimated 1 trillion stars and is on a collision course with our own Mily Way Galaxy. It’s expected to collide in roughliy 4.5 billion years to create 1 massive galaxy. These galaxies are both so unimaginably massive that even when they collide, it is improbable that any stars will actually individually collide.
