Shenandoah — After Sunset
Captured after sunset from the ridgeline at Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park.
Subject: Blue Ridge Mountain Twilight
Location: Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park, Virginia
Season: Spring
Shenandoah National Park stretches along the Blue Ridge Mountains for nearly 105 miles, and Big Meadows sits near its heart at over 3,500 feet elevation. Most people pack up when the sun drops below the ridgeline — but the best light often comes in the minutes after. The sky transitions through layers of orange, magenta, and deep blue in a way that no filter can replicate. This is that window.
I almost hiked back to the tent when the sun went down. I'm glad I didn't. The sky kept going for another twenty minutes and just kept getting better. This is the frame that made the whole trip worth it.
