Alorah's Overlook
Captured on a spring hike through Shenandoah National Park, Virginia.
Subject: Alorah, Shepherd/Husky Mix
Location: Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park, Virginia
Season: Spring
Shenandoah National Park has over 500 miles of hiking trails winding through the Blue Ridge Mountains, and almost all of them are dog-friendly. The park rewards the climb with overlooks like this one — where the valley opens up below the treeline and the mountains fade into the distance in layers of blue and green. Alorah, apparently, had opinions about whatever was out there in those trees.
She stopped dead at this rock and just stared. Didn't move for a solid minute. I have no idea what she was looking at, but I'm glad she did it — because this is one of my favorite photos I've ever taken of her.
